Shipdate Docs

Everything you need to set up and get the most out of Shipdate.

Getting Started

Install Shipdate

Install Shipdate from the Shopify App Store. Once installed, you'll be redirected to the Shipdate dashboard inside your Shopify admin. No additional configuration is required to get started.

Connecting your store

Shipdate connects automatically to your Shopify store upon installation. All your orders are immediately accessible. There's no API setup or manual connection needed.

Verify your sender email

Go to Settings → Domain Verification and enter your store's email address. This address will appear as the sender for all app-related notifications. You'll receive a verification link from Postmark — click it to confirm the address. Once verified, your email status will show as "Email Verified" and notifications will begin sending from that address.

Sending Notifications

Select an estimated shipping date

Navigate to the Shipdate dashboard in your Shopify admin. Select one or more orders using the checkboxes, then choose an estimated shipping date from the calendar picker. Click "Send notification" to immediately email your selected customers.

Notifying multiple orders at once

Use the bulk-select checkbox at the top of the order list to select multiple orders simultaneously. All selected customers will receive the same estimated shipping date.

Resending a notification

To update a shipping date or resend, simply select the order again, pick the new date, and send. The customer will receive a fresh email with updated information.

Sending from the order page

You don't have to open Shipdate to send an estimate. On any order in your Shopify admin, open More actions → Send shipping estimate, pick a date, add an optional note, and send. You can also add the Shipdate block to your order page layout. It shows the estimated shipping date, whether the customer has been notified and when, and gives you a button to notify them without leaving the order.

Automation

Automate estimates with Shopify Flow

Shipdate includes a Shopify Flow action, so every new order can get an estimated ship date without you touching it. Flow is free from Shopify and installs separately. To set it up: 1. Open Shopify Flow in your admin and create a workflow. 2. Choose the trigger "Order created". 3. Add the action "Set shipping estimate", from Shipdate. 4. Set how many days out the estimate should be, then turn on "Business days only" and "Notify customer". 5. Turn the workflow on. The Flow action is included on every plan, including Free.

Different lead times per product

Because the estimate is set inside Flow, you can be as specific as you like. Add conditions to your workflow so made-to-order items promise three weeks while in-stock items promise two days — based on product, tag, SKU, vendor, or the options a customer chose at checkout. The simplest version is one workflow with a condition and two branches, each setting a different number of days.

Business days and weekends

Turn on "Business days only" in the Flow action and Shipdate skips Saturdays and Sundays when counting forward, so an estimate never lands on a weekend. Dates are calculated in your store's timezone.

Emailing the customer automatically

The "Notify customer" option in the Flow action controls whether the estimate is emailed as soon as it's set. Leave it off to record the date silently — it still appears on the order page and in Shipdate — and email the customer later yourself. Automatic emails use the same template and sending address as manual ones, and count toward your monthly total on the Free plan.

Email Template

Customizing your email template

Go to Settings → Email Template in the Shipdate dashboard. Write your template using standard HTML for full control over layout, fonts, colors, and branding.

Available template variables

Use these variables in your HTML template: {{customer_name}} — Customer's full name {{order_number}} — Shopify order number {{estimated_ship_date}} — The date you selected {{custom_message}} — Your optional custom message

Adding a custom message per order

When sending a notification, you can optionally add a custom message specific to that order. Place the {{custom_message}} variable in your template where you'd like it to appear.

Plans & Billing

Upgrading or downgrading your plan

Change your plan at any time from Settings → Billing. Changes take effect immediately and are prorated through Shopify's billing system.

Email limits and plans

The Free plan includes 50 emails per calendar month. The Growth and Pro plans include unlimited emails. If you reach the Free plan's limit, you'll be prompted to upgrade — the count resets at the start of each calendar month. Bulk send and customizable templates are available on Growth and Pro; sending from your own domain is available on Pro.
